The only thing that really holds Sanitarium back is its interface, which eschews the traditional point-and-click scheme for a more clunky form. About the only thing that isnвЂ™t outright weird are the puzzles, which are pretty standard logic or inventory-based.

The atmospheric music just adds to the whole creepy nature of the game. Everyone you interact with is fully fleshed out and just as odd as the rest of the world they inhabit. Of course, this is all just the manifestations of an amnesiac, right? But as Max uncovers more of his past memories, so is more of the truth.Дivided into nine chapters, the various worlds Max travels to are rich with bizarre detail and atmosphere. As Max searches the grounds, he finds himself transported to various locales as different people. Eventually, the man discovers his name is Max, though he still struggles with finding out why heвЂ™s in the sanitarium. While not necessarily gory, the descent into the main protagonistвЂ™s mind is still unnerving in its own right.ДЄfter a car accident, a man wakes from a coma inside a dilapidated sanitarium with no memory of who he is, or how he got there. So, in the spirit of taking a trip down memory lane (and the fact that one of LucasArtsвЂ™ classics, Grim Fandango, celebrates its 20th anniversary this month), here are a couple of selections from the genre that for the most part still hold up as being creepy as hell, and (again, for the most part) still fun to play.ДreamForge Intertainment created one of the more atmospheric psychological horror adventures during the genreвЂ™s heyday in Sanitarium. Still, if youвЂ™re like me, thereвЂ™s nothing that can really replace the classics.

In order for the player to gain more keys and be able to unlock the other worlds, the player must obtain 3 Golden Tickets.Point-and-click adventure games were a staple of the early-to-mid 90s PC gaming scene, with some of the more memorable ones being in the horror genre. The player starts off with 1 key and must choose between Halloween World or Lost Kingdom and set up a park.

Five Golden Keys are needed to unlock this world. A futuristic theme park with spaceships and aliens. Space Zone, the final and hardest level.Three Golden Keys are needed to unlock this world. Wonderland, the second to last unlocked and second hardest level.Both this park and Lost Kingdom are the easiest to play at. This world, along with the Lost Kingdom only need one Golden Key to unlock. Halloween World, a scary theme park with ghostly rides and haunted houses.This park, along with Halloween World, are the easiest. This along with Halloween World is the first world you begin with, but Wonderland and Space Zone can be unlocked later on with Golden Keys. Lost Kingdom, a jungle theme park with Aztec castles and dinosaurs.As you unlock new areas, the game becomes progressively harder. There are 4 different types of parks to unlock and build, known as Worlds. On-line - Publish your parks online and visit other people's parks - all over the world.Postcards - Send snapshots pictures of your park to your friends, anywhere in the world.Research - Bring in the boffins to invent even better attractions and facilities.Adjust - Tweak the performance of your rides and shops.Employ - Hire front line staff, then fire them if they're not up to the job.Ride - Experience your fantastic creations in person!.Visit - Check your park out in realistic first person mode.Building - Plan and place rides, shops, side-shows and a host of other features.The only thing is you haven't built it yet! The Theme Park is back in town and the clamouring kids are on the verge of battering down the gates. The roller coasters are always the main events, and after you complete the construction, you can ride the coaster in a first person view, just to see the game from the view point of the customers. You change every aspect of each and every ride, event and stall that you place inside your park, from colors to the length of each ride, the amount of people on at a time, and how many fries are in a pack of chips (ok, maybe not that much detail, but you get the point). Build your own theme park, with all the roller coasters, rides, food stalls and anything else you can think of.
